Vintage

“Close your eyes, take a deep breath, smile. Harvest time is a celebration.”

Montalcino 2022

The 2022 vintage unfolded like a song of promises, with the buds breaking forth ten days earlier, dancing with 1.4 clusters per vine in a fertile embrace. Spring brought intense heat and light rains, while the vine stood proud, preparing for its bloom on June 3rd, a sweet prelude welcomed by the blazing sun. Summer infused oppressive warmth, yet the resilient mother vine slowed its pace, gracefully facing the heat. Finally, the clouds wept at the end of July, restoring balance and life. The harvest, a magical moment in the early days of September, revealed healthy clusters, free from scorch, imbued with moderate sweetness—a fruit of love and resilience in nature’s choreography. Truly a delight.

Montalcino 2023

The Tuscan winter brought a blessing of snow, filling the farmers with spirit and nourishing the land. Spring 2023 blossomed quickly, with buds already surpassing the cottony phase by April 3rd, but an unexpected frost at dawn on April 6th caused damage in the valley, sparing our vineyards that were embraced by the gentle breeze of the hillside. Starting on April 8th, a relentless series of rainfalls inundated the vines, dumping almost 50% of the annual rainfall in just 75 days. These excess created challenges: weeds, the need for constant agricultural interventions, and explosive vegetation, but with our tenacity, we faced the chaos. July brought two generous rainfalls, providing relief to the climate; summer showcased milder temperatures, but from mid-August, the intensified heat prompted defensive strategies. The harvest, on September 4th and 12th, revealed mature grapes that were slightly delayed, a testament to a challenging yet hopeful vintage, in a land that always invites us to dream.

Montalcino 2024

2024 arrived as a gentle awakening, with a mild and dry winter that brought bud break ten days earlier. A sudden drop in temperatures then restored the flora to a regular rhythm, protecting the vines from the chilly whims of frost. The growing season unfolded under a warm and rainy sky, with abundant downpours that echoed those of 2023, bringing vitality and health to our rows of vines. However, the scorching sun at the end of July caused a metabolic halt in the Sangiovese, a moment of reflection that interrupted the sugar accumulation. September brought clouds and rain, enhancing the aromas in the clusters destined for rosé, which were fresh and mineral, while the more demanding red grapes prolonged their wait. With a nod to traditional viticulture, we adjusted our approach, thinning and leafing to prepare for an October harvest reminiscent of the 1970s. Thus, we crafted wines from vibrantly fresh grapes with balanced acidity and moderate alcohol levels, experiencing the captivating dance of time—a journey from the modern to the ancient that continues to enchant us.

Montalcino 2025

The 2025 vintage began with a vigorous awakening, the soil generously hydrated to nourish the vines. Budbreak danced several days early, painting the slopes with a tender green. The vines offered a modest fruit set, accompanied by precious flowering that promised sparse, concentrated clusters.
Frequent rains bathed the earth at a steady rhythm, while the cool night air kept powdery and downy mildew at bay until May. In the quiet of June 22nd, a sudden hailstorm wounded, but did not break, the vineyard’s spirit.
A cool July was punctuated by slow, reviving rains – a balm that provided sustenance and patience.
Then August, with its commanding sun, reined in the vine’s early vigor with a deep, steady breath, drying out the excess and finally ending the thread of the grape berry moth. The harvest thus unfolded at a measured pace, revealing clusters of extraordinary concentration, where vibrant acidity and substantial fruit merge in a balance of rare elegance. A vintage that transformed challenges into strength, bestowing a wine with profound character and a splendidly authentic vibrancy.
